List of nonprofit-related mailing lists

Another article snipped from my mailbox.....

Someone on another mailing list to which I subscribe asked if I knew of all
of the nonprofit-related (management, volunteers, fundraising) mailing
lists around. So I compiled the following. Most of this information is
taken from an old version of Munn Heydorn's guide to Nonprofit Resources on
the Internet -- I don't know if all of these resources are still in
existance (if you try to subscribe to
something and it fails, please let me know).

Also, let me know if there is a nonprofit or volunteer-related list missing
from this:

NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT-RELATED INTERNET MAILING LISTS
(LISTSERVS)
February 14, 1997 version

fund-raising and volunteer management issues.

To join a group, a potential participant would e-mail a special command to
the listserv administration address. This is called "subscribing". You
would also probably want to require the subscriber to provide his or her
full name, organization's name, and city of location. The first message the
subscriber would receive would be a confirmation of the subscription, and
information about the listserv (the topics it covers, information about
ICJS, etc.)

Before you try any of these lists:

-- If you subscribe to a list, SAVE the "welcome" message you receive from
the list; it has important information about guidelines for discussions (if
discussions are allowed), the e-mail address of the person who actually
runs the list, and how to unsubscribe from the list.

-- Note that the list you send your "subscribe" message to is NOT the same
address as the one for sending messages to a List.

-- For some lists, will receive a reply request when you send your
"subscribe" message, which you must respond to within 48 hours to become a
part of the list.

-- Don't subscribe to all of the lists interactive groups at once; you will
be overwhelmed with e-mail.

-- Where the following directions note [Your First & Last Name], write in
that information WITHOUT brackets [].
