Mission: International Philanthropy exists to nurture the development of
philanthropy and the independent sector outside of the Anglo-American
context.We serve as a meeting place for the ex-change of ideas and
information relating to philanthropy
To accomplish our mission we suggest focusing on three areas:
1. Discussions of philanthropy from a cultural specific perspective. (E.g.
factors effecting the developments of philanthropy in Russia, trends in
charitable giving amongst expatriate Indian Christians living in East
Africa etc.
2. Discussions of legal and legislative issues effecting philanthropy. (E.g.
proposed European Community legislation on philanthropy, the development
of income tax deductions for charitable donations in Columbia, etc.)
3. Resource centre: requests for advice relating to the above issues, PLUS:
giving or securing funding, professional recruitment announcements,
conference postings, calls for papers, dissertation abstracts, links to
other relevant sites.
Procedures:
In order to reduce the amount of Email sent to subscribers and to keep the
group focused, we request that all postings be sent to the moderator. This
is not an attempt to be elitist. But, rather it is our desire to assure
that all material shared with group members is relevant and well edited.
We also encourage submissions to the moderator from none subscribers.
