Gary Hattie - "The ....otomy"

Gary has written this account of his experience with Thalamotomy.

Gary Hattie lives in Selkirk, a town about 30 miles south of Edinburgh, I was born in Glasgow in 1964. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease when I was 29 years old. I worked as a manager for Iceland Frozen Foods for 14 years, in 1998 I was given early retirement, from my job due to the progression of the Parky, I am now Co-ordiantor for YAPP&R's in Scotland. In 1996 I had an operation called a Thalamotomy, this is my account of what it was like and what I went through at the time, I decided to write it for the simple reason that there was nobody out there to talk to me about the operation, which I would have found very helpful at the time.Hopefully this account of events leading up to, during and after the operation, will benefit somebody. It is sometimes humorous, sometimes sarcastic, sad and emotional, but it is a true account of what I went through, I would appreciate any feedback on the article, you can email me on thelaird@parkyyap.freeserve.co.uk

I hope you enjoy reading this article as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy reading.

Awrabest Gary Hattie
